Kingston

Christmas trees will be collected on the same day as your landfill waste between Tuesday 3 January and Friday 20 January 2012. Just leave your tree next to your wheelie bin and we will take it off to be composted, only real trees please.

Alternatively, you can take your tree to be composted at the Villiers Road Household Reuse and Recycling Centre.

The Household Reuse and Recycling Centre at Villiers Road ("the tip") will be open from 7.30am to 4.00pm on all public holidays except from Christmas Day and New Years Day. Public holidays, particularly in the spring, are always busy times so please take care to separate items for recycling before arriving at the site so that you can unload your vehicle as quickly as possible.

Lambeth

This year's Christmas tree recycling stations will be at:

  • Clapham Common Windmill Drive, SW4
  • Streatham Common, Upper Common car park, SW16
  • Kennington Park Bolton Crescent, SE5.

The sites will operate from 9 January to 22 January 2012 between 9am and 3pm each day.

Lambeth Living will be collecting Christmas trees from refuse and recycling points on all of their managed estates during the weeks 9 to the 22 of January for recycling and for residents in kerbside properties we will be offering a free Christmas tree collection service between 9 and 14 January.

Trees will be collected on the same day as your refuse and recycling. Please make sure your tree is at the front of your property before 6am on the day of collection.

Merton

You can take your tree to Garth Road Household Reuse and Recycling Centre, Lower Morden, SM4 4AX. Alternatively we will collect trees during the two weeks from 9 January. Put your Christmas tree out for collection by 6am Monday 9 January 2012. Please place it at the front of your property, where it can be clearly seend from the road but not on the pavement. Please call us if your tree has not been collected by 23 January on 020 8274 4902.

Richmond upon Thames

Household real Christmas trees will be collected for recycling between Monday 9 and Friday 21 January on the same day as your normal waste and recycling collections. Real Christmas trees only – please remove all decorations, pots and stands. Present trees whole unless more than 3 metres long. Please cut trees longer than this into smaller pieces.

Put your tree out on your normal collection day in a place that is easy to see but does not block the pavement, ideally next to your recycling containers.

Last year we collected around 20,000 Christmas trees for recycling which was fantastic. However, high demand means we may not collect all trees immediately. If yours is not taken first time, put it out again the following week on your collection day.

The real Christmas trees collected for recycling go with the general green garden waste to Oxford to be composted in windrows.

After 21 January 2012 Christmas trees presented on recycling and waste collections days will be collected but may not be recycled. Alternatively, you can take your tree to a drop off point at:

  • Townmead Road Reuse and Recycling Centre
  • Wickes* car park recycling site, South Road, Twickenham (January only)
  • Squires* Garden Centre in Twickenham (From 24 December 2011 until 31 January 2012)

* No commercial use - residents only.

We regret that we cannot offer assisted collections for Christmas tree recycling. If you think you will have difficulty in handling a Christmas tree please consider what arrangements you can make in advance to aid you with disposing of/recycling your tree.

Sutton

Over the Christmas period your waste and recycling bins will be collected a day later than usual. There will be no disruption to bin collections over the New Year holiday as we will be collecting on Bank Holiday Monday, 2 January.

We will be collecting real Christmas trees for recycling from Monday 9 to Friday 20 January. Please put your real Christmas tree out on the day of your recycling collection.

Wandsworth

Christmas tree collections are free and are taken on the same day as your rubbish and recycling. Contact the council to check your collection day. To have your Christmas tree recycled, please leave it out anytime between 6-19 January, at the front of your property where it can be clearly seen.

Trees should not be placed on pavements or public footpaths unless there is no alternative.

If you live in blocks of flats please leave your tree near to your refuse bin store, making sure you do not block access.

The trees are shredded and sent for composting. You can also take your tree to Smuggler's Way or Cringle Dock reuse and recycling centres for recycling.
